Job Title: Fundraising & Advocacy Coordinator – Syria
Location: Syria – Damascus with frequent coordination with HQ and regional offices
Reports to: Country Representative – Syria
Technical coordination with: HQ Fundraising & Communications Team
JOB SUMMARY
The Fundraising & Advocacy Coordinator will lead MedGlobal’s efforts to mobilize private-sector resources and strengthen advocacy for the humanitarian and health sector in Syria.
The role focuses on engaging companies, business leaders, philanthropists, and diaspora networks inside and outside Syria, while positioning MedGlobal as a trusted, credible, and high-impact humanitarian health actor.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Private-Sector Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Develop and implement a private-sector fundraising strategy for Syria, targeting:
- Syrian and regional companies
- Business leaders and high-net-worth individuals
- Philanthropic foundations and diaspora networks
- Identify, map, and cultivate new corporate and individual donor prospects inside and outside Syria.
- Build and manage long-term relationships with private donors through regular engagement, briefings, and impact updates.
- Prepare tailored fundraising pitches, concept notes, and proposals aligned with donor interests (health, early recovery, social stability).
- Coordinate with program teams to package fundable, high-impact interventions (hospitals, PHCs, dialysis, MHPSS, women & child health).
- Support fundraising campaigns, events, and donor visits (in-country or remotely).
2. Advocacy & Humanitarian Positioning
- Lead advocacy efforts to promote:
- The importance of humanitarian health assistance in Syria
- MedGlobal’s role, impact, and added value
- Develop advocacy messages and briefing materials targeting:
- Private sector
- Community leaders
- Influential networks and platforms
- Represent MedGlobal in relevant forums, meetings, and engagements related to humanitarian advocacy (as delegated).
- Support visibility of MedGlobal’s Syria programs through success stories, key messages, and talking points (in coordination with Communications).
3. Partnerships & Networking
- Establish and strengthen partnerships with:
- Chambers of commerce
- Business associations
- Philanthropic initiatives
- Diaspora organizations
- Coordinate closely with HQ, regional offices, and communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and donor alignment.
- Support the development of strategic partnerships that go beyond funding (in-kind support, expertise, networks).
4. Coordination, Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain an updated private donor pipeline and tracker.
- Ensure donor engagements comply with MedGlobal policies, due diligence, and ethical fundraising standards.
- Prepare periodic reports on fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Coordinate with Finance and Programs to ensure transparency, accountability, and donor confidence.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, advocacy, partnerships, or business development (humanitarian or development sector preferred).
- Proven experience engaging private-sector donors, companies, or high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong understanding of the Syrian humanitarian and health context.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently in a complex and sensitive environment.

- Arabic: Native or fluent
