JOB SUMMARY
The MEAL Officer supports the MEAL Coordinator in implementing MEAL plans, maintaining a robust MEAL system, and providing real-time analysis to improve program quality and implementation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Senior MEAL Officer, the MEAL Officer will:
- Contribute to the development of the MEAL framework.
- Support the design and development of MEAL tools, including questionnaires, satisfaction surveys, pre- and post-tests, and checklists, to assess project activities and measure planned indicators.
- Contribute to building the capacity of the MEAL department.
- Conduct field visits to monitor project activities through observation and stakeholder interviews.
- Maintain a lessons-learned database and share relevant learning with the program team in a timely manner.
- Work with the MEAL Coordinator to ensure the MEAL Management Information System is used for all MEAL activities.
- Contribute to all MEAL reports, including needs assessments and related reporting.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, informed consent, signed consent, and data protection requirements for all MEAL participants and project beneficiaries.
- Ensure all relevant MEAL inputs are collected on time and in line with the specified means of verification.
- Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of UITYD’s CFM, ensuring it is accessible, transparent, and responsive.
- Manage and document complaints and feedback, ensuring timely responses and resolution in coordination with relevant departments.
- Analyze complaints and feedback data to provide insights for program improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
The candidate should have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, computer science, engineering, development studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in accountability, MEAL, or related roles within the humanitarian sector.
- Knowledge of and practical experience in MEAL methodologies, particularly quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and report writing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
- Experience designing applications/forms with Kobo.
- Experience in managing complaints and feedback mechanisms and engaging with affected populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions and gather community insights.
- Ability to analyze feedback trends and produce reports for program improvement.
- Ability to write reports in English.
- Native Arabic speaker with intermediate English proficiency.

UITYD is a local medical non-profit organization co-funded by MedGlobal and multiple donors. Registered in Turkey in 2020, UITYD works on the front lines of crisis response in Syria and Turkey to alleviate suffering and save lives. It provides health services, helps rebuild healthcare systems, supports doctors and medical professionals through professional and educational training, and delivers medicines and medical supplies to hospitals and vulnerable families, including refugees and displaced persons in disaster-affected and underserved areas.
