JOB SUMMARY

The Social Behavior Change (SBC) Team Leader is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and providing technical and operational support to a team of eight SBC Educators. The Team Leader ensures the effective implementation of community-based social and behavior change activities, including awareness sessions, household and community visits, community engagement, identification and referral of cases, and health promotion activities.

The position is responsible for planning and organizing the team’s daily and weekly activities, monitoring the quality and coverage of SBC interventions, ensuring proper documentation and reporting, and maintaining effective coordination between SBC Educators, health facilities, service providers, and the project team.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The SBC Team Leader will have the following responsibilities and duties:

1.      Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to a team of 8 SBC Educators and ensure effective implementation of planned activities.

2.      Develop and follow up daily, weekly, and monthly work plans, including awareness sessions, household visits, community outreach, and campaigns.

3.      Conduct regular field monitoring and supportive supervision to ensure the quality and consistency of SBC activities and messages.

4.      Ensure effective community linkage with available health services and oversee the proper identification, referral, and follow-up of cases.

5.      Provide coaching and technical support to SBC Educators and identify their training and capacity-building needs.

6.      Review the team’s data and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and timely reporting.

7.      Compile and submit weekly and monthly reports and monitor progress against project targets and indicators.

8.      Collect and communicate community feedback, concerns, rumors, misconceptions, and barriers to accessing health services.

9.      Coordinate with health facility staff, community representatives, and relevant project teams to facilitate SBC activities and referrals.

10.   Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Safeguarding, PSEA, Code of Conduct, and confidentiality requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The candidate should have the following education, experience, and competencies:

1.     University degree or diploma in public health, nursing, midwifery, nutrition, social sciences, community health, or another relevant field.

2.     Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in community health, health education, social and behavior change, community engagement, nutrition, or related humanitarian/development programs.

3.     Previous experience in team supervision or field team leadership is highly desirable.

4.     Previous experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is preferred.

5.     Good understanding of community-based health promotion, social and behavior change approaches, community engagement, and referral mechanisms.

6.     Strong leadership, team management, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

7.     Ability to develop work plans, organize field activities, distribute tasks, and follow up on implementation.

8.     Good communication, facilitation, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

9.     Ability to review and consolidate activity data and prepare clear weekly and monthly reports.

10.  Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.

11.  Ability to work effectively in the field, independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

12.   Good understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, PSEA, and humanitarian principles..
