Job Title: Community Health Worker - CHW

Job location: Syria - Aleppo - Tal Elhajar PHC

Reports to: Medical Administrator

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

Conduct campaigns and health awareness through visits to homes and public places.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The CHW has the following responsibilities and duties:

1. Performs sensitivity assessments and identifies cases in need according to predetermined criteria.

2. Manages cases, including maintaining faithful to protocols on privacy and individual leave.

3. Makes internal and external referrals of cases, updates feedback and referral forms,

4. Updates case files with the help of the health Officer and ensures that the information is secured.

5. To carry out preventive healthcare and guidance activities on reproductive health, newborn and child nutrition, early diagnosis of breast cancer, personal and home hygiene, tooth cleaning and vaccination.

6. Advises and guides cases and community groups on issues related to diagnosis screening, such as cancer screening, pap smear, glaucoma tests, and diabetes screening.

7. To provide informative training for pregnant women and children.

8. To perform family planning services, health and hygiene incentives, screening of infectious diseases, carrying out health education activities, collecting statistics and health care referrals at the same time.

9. It advises cases and communities in situations such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), antenatal substance abuse or prevention of domestic violence situations and risks.

10. To meet basic needs such as first aid.

11. Visiting service providers to ensure that the intervention, information, and referral activities on community health are carried out effectively,

12. Carrying out service provider mapping activities.

13. To make weekly and monthly reports on the activities, interventions, orientation, and mapping activities performed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Should have the following skills, education, and experience:

1. Formal university degree in health, teaching, community development, or a related field.

2. Knowledge and/or work experience in Nutrition or community health development preferable.

3. Able to prioritize, communicate effectively, and meet deadlines

4. Experience as a team member of working in community health or nutrition or other related health-related intervention.

5. Knowledge of Microsoft office with a good command of Microsoft Excel.

6. Strong leadership and coordination skills.

7. Able to work both independently and in a team environment.

8. Previous NGO experience in a similar context is a plus.
