Job Title: NPICU technician (Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit technician)

Job location: Syria – Idleb – Darkosh Hospital

Report to: Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensıve Care Unıt Doctors


JOB SUMMARY
The NICU Nurse/Technician is responsible for providing specialized, life-sustaining intensive care to newborn infants (neonates) who are premature, low birth weight, critically ill, or born with congenital conditions requiring close monitoring and medical support.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The NPICU technician has the following responsibilities and duties:
•            Working within the UITYD project carried out at Al-Rahma Hospital – Idlib.
•            Working in and supervising the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including admission, monitoring, and discharge of neonates.
•            Implementing instructions of the supervising physician.
•            Performing and documenting vital signs, weight, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose and
neurological status (tone, reflexes, seizure activity).
Recognizing and responding to neonatal emergencies: apnea, bradycardia, desaturations, shock, and seizures.
Maintaining order and smooth operation of the NICU.
Monitoring and maintaining NICU-specific devices and equipment.
Educating mothers on kangaroo mother care (KMC), thermal protection, and expressed breast milk feeding.
Supporting safe discharge with follow-up instructions for high-risk neonates.
Implementing child protection policies – ensuring no neonate is subjected to any form of neglect or abuse.
Providing a positive and valued experience for families receiving care within UITYD.
Receiving necessary training for efficient and serious implementation of the project


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
1. Diploma from a medical or healthcare institute (Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, Midwifery with neonatal training, or ICU Technician).
2. Minimum 2 years of experience in adult care departments (as per original), with at least 6 months of dedicated neonatal or pediatric ICU experience preferred.
3. High communication skills
4. Problem-solving skills
5. Empathy skills
